Hey Darren, after a brief (3 years!) flit about we're moving back to Middlewich next week. When are you next gigging round there? I fancy one of your gigs then I'll get you drunk afterwards :)

Hi Chris, just played Winsford last week, but it was good so will be back ... there's plenty going on in Winsford these days, I think they still have a jam on Mondays at DeBees - you could take your new guitar!! - and I occasionally come to play the Sunday afternoon beverage marathon ... yeah, Cheshire, canals etc ... it's well nice, enjoy :-) |

Hi Shaun, thanks for the kind comments ... that Clitheroe gig was a bit special for many reasons, probably as much as anything, I really needed something to get out of a domestic stress space! Poynton will be different, it's outdoors and it's part of a bigger event, a day out for families but glad to say, we're next to the beer tent anyway :-) cheers, dp |

It has been almost 2 months since the Clitheroe session so we had to drive up to Tweedies for a top up, another good do in a different atmosphere but try not to leave it so long before returning to Clitheroe (I like a pint or two with your music)Your mate can give that guitar some welly. Best wishes Dave and June

Was lovely to see ya both, thanks for making the journey! yeah, it's a different gig is Tweedies, very dependent on who's in for the weekend, and sometimes the locals are elsewhere! The welly boy is Roydan Styles, he writes his own gig also and is worth googling if you get the chance. cheers, do :-) |

HI Darren I thought your gig on Saturday at the New Inn in Clitheroe was brilliant. You and the other 2 musicians, Roydan and Fluff created a wonderful atmosphere and totally made the festival a great success. Thank you so much, and it was lovely that you spoke to all the audience after, you are a guy that is "real" and genuinely interested in your fans. Thanks again!! I loved the CD too!

Thanks Jacquie :-) ... would you believe those two only met for the first time last night, just before the gig! Yes indeed, the new songs are starting to fit into the set now, 2 hours plus encores last night - whatever happened to the days of getting nervous before doing 3 songs on an open mic!? Weren't sure if we could make it to Clitheroe last night. Really glad we did. What an awesome gig. Back to your best, every word to every song was written across your face. Fluff's fiddle playing was immense. Cheers fella.

There were a few people like yourselves who traveled out to see us last night, so I was well up for putting together a show. Fluff and Roydan had never met before! The atmosphere in that room was something indeed ... thanks as always to you both, for being with us and sharing a little magic, cheers dp :-) |

aw shucks Elliott, am blushing, thank you :-) if you like your manic acoustic guitar players, there's a couple of really tasty players who inspire me: Nick Harper (who also has the best songs), and Jon Gomm, who creates a magic rhythmic buzz with the acoustic unlike any other. Richard Thompson, for something a little more folky, is also well worth a listen. nice one, cheers, dp :-) |

I saw you on with John Cooper Clarke at Lawrence Batley Theatre. Your rendition of Love Will Tear Us Apart was absolutely amazing (did not know what to do with myself when you started), It grabbed me right by the heart and balls art the same time, it was beautiful and that is a word I spare for my little girl alone. if that was out on a cd maybe just a single I cant see with a bit of push why that couldn't hit well into the charts. I am off to try and find it on your site now ,i hope the recoding is a good quality or sounds as good as last night - I am not peeing in your pocket - it was emotional and a shock.

Your slot supporting JCC in Edinburgh on Saturday was an unexpected delight - great stuff. Like many others I was bowled over by your interpretation of Love Will Tear Us Apart - but that shouldn't overshadow some triffic original material like Julie Rainbow. Hope you went down just as well in Glasgow.
2/03/2009 - Glasgow
dp says:
Hi Ken, yes indeed, Glasgow was an unexpected delight also, both shows were as lovely as home gigs, and I really do appreciate your kind comments and the welcomes of the last few days. All the very best of things and thank you, Darren :-) |
