HI Darren I thought your gig on Saturday at the New Inn in Clitheroe was brilliant. You and the other 2 musicians, Roydan and Fluff created a wonderful atmosphere and totally made the festival a great success. Thank you so much, and it was lovely that you spoke to all the audience after, you are a guy that is "real" and genuinely interested in your fans. Thanks again!! I loved the CD too!
19/05/2009 - Clitheroe

dp says:   Hi Clare, thanks, it was lovely all round, a special one for sure :-) and thank you for sticking around for a while, it's always lovely to make new friends after a show, nice one, dp x

dp says:   Thanks Jacquie :-) ... would you believe those two only met for the first time last night, just before the gig! Yes indeed, the new songs are starting to fit into the set now, 2 hours plus encores last night - whatever happened to the days of getting nervous before doing 3 songs on an open mic!? Thanks for being there, c ya soon, dp x

alan & cathy
Weren't sure if we could make it to Clitheroe last night. Really glad we did. What an awesome gig. Back to your best, every word to every song was written across your face. Fluff's fiddle playing was immense.
Cheers fella.

dp says:   There were a few people like yourselves who traveled out to see us last night, so I was well up for putting together a show. Fluff and Roydan had never met before! The atmosphere in that room was something indeed ... thanks as always to you both, for being with us and sharing a little magic, cheers dp :-)

dp says:   aw shucks Elliott, am blushing, thank you :-)
if you like your manic acoustic guitar players, there's a couple of really tasty players who inspire me: Nick Harper (who also has the best songs), and Jon Gomm, who creates a magic rhythmic buzz with the acoustic unlike any other. Richard Thompson, for something a little more folky, is also well worth a listen.
nice one, cheers, dp :-)

Flap Cap Cocker
Hi Darren, really enjoyed the show at De-bees last night, you remind me of Jack Black, thats a compliment by the way. thanks for the biscuits and after eights.
28/03/2009 - just outside of Lancashire

Hi Darren,
Thoroughly enjoyed your set at Huddersfield Saturday night. I'm gonna keep an eye on ya cos I'd like to catch you again and bring some friends along. Your playing, your voice was amazing. Keep on keeping on!
15/03/2009 - Bradford

I saw you on with John Cooper Clarke at Lawrence Batley Theatre. Your rendition of Love Will Tear Us Apart was absolutely amazing (did not know what to do with myself when you started), It grabbed me right by the heart and balls art the same time, it was beautiful and that is a word I spare for my little girl alone. if that was out on a cd maybe just a single I cant see with a bit of push why that couldn't hit well into the charts. I am off to try and find it on your site now ,i hope the recoding is a good quality or sounds as good as last night - I am not peeing in your pocket - it was emotional and a shock.
15/03/2009 - leeds - hosforth

dp says:   thank you Spencer, I've placed a blog entry about recordings of LWTUA, previous and forthcoming, dp :-)

Ken Macdonald
Your slot supporting JCC in Edinburgh on Saturday was an unexpected delight - great stuff. Like many others I was bowled over by your interpretation of Love Will Tear Us Apart - but that shouldn't overshadow some triffic original material like Julie Rainbow. Hope you went down just as well in Glasgow.
2/03/2009 - Glasgow

dp says:   Hi Ken, yes indeed, Glasgow was an unexpected delight also, both shows were as lovely as home gigs, and I really do appreciate your kind comments and the welcomes of the last few days.
All the very best of things and thank you, Darren :-)

Steve O'donoghue
Used Condom Lament - fantastic title mate. You're the new Morrissey!
24/02/2009 - Somewhere in the north of England

dp says:   Ha lol :-) As the old gag goes, "great title, shit song". Actually there's a story ... I was sat doodling with an open tuning and thinking about marketing the new collection, and wondering how I could make it attract the young and the wild, and hence the title. The song followed, and it's pretty wild it a frantic jazzy kinda way. At no point though are the words 'used', 'condom' or 'lament' to be found anywhere in the song. Oh Chester, so much to answer for ...

dp says:   thanks Darren, agreed it was a very special night all round, I was totally inspired by Berina, she's something ...

Louise
Really enjoyed your own music and covers - what a beautiful soft voice - and loved fact that volume meant could still talk to friends - about (among other things) how good we thought you were - hate music being too loud (and I'm not THAT old!) Hope you'll be back in The Farndon sometime!
13/02/2009 - The Farndon

dp says:   Thanks Louise, I wasn't too sure how the night would go, and yes it was a nice to be on that easy listening trip for the evening ... hope to be back very soon,
many thanks, dp x
