Rae LeesonRae Leeson > community

Sometime in the early 2000's, I eventually re-settled in Glossop, my town of schooling and early childhood. Probably the most exciting thing to make the return worthwhile was a growing and exciting music scene in the town. At the heart of this, a number of people with ideas and eclectic tastes, and amongst them a young chap who worked at Dawsons Music in Stockport, Rae Leeson.

Amongst Rae's schemes and endeavours, he opened up the town's first real music shop, offering instrument lessons, and when that venture closed he started to promote events and artistes. Somewhere in the middle of it all, Rae did two special things: 1) he sold me the trademark Takemine guitar that is very much my live sound; and 2) he recorded and produced (and contributed a little guitar playing to) my first studio cd, Passion and Conflict.

I should also credit him for a third thing: it was Rae's idea to commence with some live recordings at The Globe in Glossop, however circumstances lead to Rae doing the live sound whilst I hired in Mark Tolle and Paul Higham to produce what became the Global cd and dvd.
