A classic cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart by Poyzer, Fluff and Farrell, recorded in Liverpool and recently played on BBC Radio 5 Live, is currently being championed by non other than Joy Division / New Order bassist Peter Hook at www.myspace.com/peterhookneworder - have a listen and leave a lovely comment!

This is an iconic song for so many of us, not only due to the poignancy of the Ian Curtis story, but that it came from an era when many beautiful dark songs worked there way into the English music scene.

It was whilst listening to The Oyster Band's version that I hit on the idea of including it in my own set. Whilst they'd captured a new feel and angle for the song, for me they'd not quite grabbed the Northern twang and depth of the original, so I set out on a mission.

Of course my own version won't be admired by all - many will say of course that this is one of those songs that should never be covered, and I appreciate that opinion. However, I was just drawn into it, this remains for me one of the stories of my life, a personal thing, a most powerful moment whenever I play it live.
