In Good Time
(aka The Correct Medication)
A song rarely played and never properly recorded, probably because in it's original form, I was never truly happy with it. Strangely though, I do remember performing this at The Independence Festival in 2001, and thinking then that it was a particularly poignant part of the set.
It's rumoured that this was a filmed performance, though I've never seen footage and the only audio recording I remember hearing wasn't too clever.
When it was written, All In Good Time was one of two songs written in tandem, and due to it's complexity of playing, the partner song 'Sunday Morning Footballer' enjoyed a simpler and more melodic structure.
It's weird - there's something in this song that I want to say, and yet I've never been convinced of it's strength in depth. At the time of writing March 2008, I sit wondering if maybe I'll set about a re-write, some day, some time ...

This sense
of injustice it eats me alive
There's so much I can't say
As I reach out for words, everything hurts
We're so close yet we seem, so far away
The correct medication isn't so easy to find
But I know in my heart, if I stay human,
I will find a way through
All in good time .
Rainbows and warriors promise us gold,
Lucky numbers get all the good press
Until we're sick to the back teeth of forever being told
Those who take aim and pass judgement know what is best
And we all become children again when we turn out the lights
In our dreams and our nightmares the magic is strong
But some children still have to fight
To turn arrogant wrongs into rights
Who knows, one day we might
All in good time .
Time . Time . Time . Time
The correct medication isn't so easy to find
But I know in my heart, if I stay human,
I will find a way through
You will know what to do
One plus one equals two
All in good . All in good . All in good . All in good .
All in good time
This sense of injustice it eats me alive,
There's so much I can't say
As I reach out for words, everything hurts
We're so close yet we seem, so far away
Away . Away . So Close ... Yet So far Away
