The Passion And Conflict Story
"The CD is brilliant. Thanks for a very nice hour of your company today. It was a great introduction to the acoustic scene" - Bernard Ramsdale, Wigan

"It is simply wonderful" - Wendy Woodruff, Texas USA

This album, my first proper go at studio recording, was recorded in Rae's 'loft' studio, on a leafy street in my old home town of Glossop, Derbyshire, England. At the time of recording, 'Waz' was 15 and Sanjay was 10! Our budget was whatever I had in my pocket at the time.

I remember it being frustrating in that I kinda had no technical know-how and therefore no control over the sound. Thankfully Rae had read the moaners annual on home recording and was 90% in the same artistic place as myself, however once we got into string section, micing up Kirk's guitar and blending backing vocals, time became an ever tightening noose.

The first version of this cd was released for my Texas Tour 2002, all copies left on that side of the ocean, with one eventually re-surfacing on E-Bay.

Having had plenty of time over there to study the mixes, I came home, borrowed Rae's portstudio, and re-recorded some guitar parts, blending in more 'natural' acoustic sound, as I didn't want to lose the organic nature of the songs as written.

Indeed, I was as precious then as I am today!

If there's one little regret it is that when we realised that the live recordings for Global were 100% decent, every song from the P&C album was duplicated, thus making P&C a little under-valued. Still, there's some magic moments here, especially the guitar playing courtesy of guest musicians, and arrangments using string and pianos that took my songs into the real world of professional music production.
